What can one say about the fishing on Lake Sakakawea?
We decided to not say much - we figure our photos will talk for us.

Ice fishing on Lake Sakakawea.

Many people fish for northern pike in early spring (or late winter) just as the ice begins to melt.
Fish the shallow bays using smelt for bait.

Sakakawea truly is a 4-season vacation destination. Summer fishing can be fabulous; spring northern pike fishing as the ice begins to recede is a blast; fall salmon and hunting; and then the ice fishing season.
