Lake Sakakawea was named after the young Shoshone Indian girl who guided Lewis & Clark
from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean. This statue of her resides on the North Dakota State Capital
grounds.
Sakakawea Adventure Outfitters is located on the original Lewis and
Clark Trail. The Corps of Discovery spent the winter of 1804-05 in ND. They
left a legacy that still lives and is waiting to be rediscovered. Many
Lewis & Clark historical areas are within an hour's drive of our
resort.
